Addictions Counselor

Jessica is a counselor in residence who has come to Sagebrush after over three years at Phoenix House of the Mid-Atlantic. At Phoenix, she was a primary counselor for the Partial Hospitalization program and has experience working with Intensive Outpatient and Women’s Residential programs, as well. Prior to earning her MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Regent University, Jessica worked for eight years as a high school English teacher, which explains her love of psychoeducation groups and why you won’t escape her office without getting a recommended reading list (The Happiness Trap, Man’s Search for Meaning, and The Compassionate Mind are three great places to start!). Her favorite counseling techniques are REBT, ACT, Motivational Interviewing, and Narrative Therapy. In addition, she is extremely passionate about Compassion Focused Therapy and how it can be used to promote healing and acceptance in both the self and intimate relationships.
