Addictions Counselor

Richard is a native of Montgomery, Alabama, who has lived in multiple Southeastern states.  He attended Auburn University where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.  Richard furthered his education at Florida State University where he received his Master of Science/Educational Specialist in Mental Health Counseling.  He has worked with various populations in his work through the Florida Department of Corrections, an outpatient substance abuse clinic, an inpatient adolescent facility, and an inpatient adult substance abuse facility.  Relocating from Atlanta to the Northern Virginia area has provided Richard the opportunity to explore local museums, try new restaurants, attend concerts and sporting events.  He approaches counseling with a general sense of curiosity and meets his clients where they are, helping them through the use of psychoeducation, humor, and creative approaches.
