Addictions Counselor

Whitney currently resides in and is a native of northern Virginia.  She received her Bachelors of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Virginia Commonwealth University and her Masters of Social Work from Binghamton University in upstate New York. Whitney is a certified Bikram Yoga Instructor, which she utilizes as a recovery tool, guiding clients through trauma informed yoga therapy. She has used her skills to teach yoga to local organizations and communities to aide in building positive self-image and internal awareness. Whitney is experienced in working within the LGBTQ community, with adolescents, and with individuals living with addiction. She values each and every individual’s story, while taking into account everyone can evolve into their better self with love and compassion internally and through support. She fully believes in “meeting people where they are at,” and building positive relationships in order to successfully work with individuals from all walks of life. She takes a holistic approach to healing and recovery. She utilizes various therapeutic methodologies such as Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Theory, and Dialectical Behavioral Theory when working with clients. Whitney enjoys being physically active and spending time with family and friends. She is excited to be working with the Sagebrush team and looks forward to helping transform the lives of people living with and impacted by substance abuse.
